2010 is going to be regarded as one of the worst years for natural disasters regardless of the outcome of hurricanes over the next few months. Severe flooding has caused thousands of fatalities internationally including (France, Poland, China and Pakistan) as well as nationally in Nashville, Boston and Oklahoma already this year. Flash flooding has been a major problem as torrential rainfall has devastated communities across the globe. Many of the communities that have been hardest hit by the flood disasters have had little to no warning that a severe storm could lead to so much water damage devastation in such a short period of time. The one advantage communities have prior to a hurricane arriving is the forewarning through weather and emergency news outlets. The prior advancement helps residents move to safer areas and property owners to take defensive measures with their homes and businesses to help safeguard them against the potential damages from wind, water and storm damage devastation.
The month of August will certainly see an increase in the formation of tropical depressions in the Atlantic Ocean. These depressions as they move off of the Coast of Africa will be followed closed to see if they will be forming into tropical storms or potential hurricanes.
