Photos from Mt Clemens Holiday Parade

The Mount Clemens holiday parade took place Friday morning in Downtown Mt Clemens Michigan. Jarvis Property Restoration was one of the main corporate sponsors for this years parade and had the opportunity to entertain thousands of local residents who braved sub freezing temperatures to attend the parade. Jarvis pulled the 2011 Hydro Plane boat helping to build excitement for the APBA Gold Cup Races on the Detroit River next summer. Jarvis also sponsored a photo opportunity with Santa Claus and his reindeer. Thanks for all those who made it out to this years Holiday Parade and we look forward to seeing you at future community events.

Emergency board up team responds to medical center fire

The emergency board up team from Jarvis Property Restoration today assisted with boarding up a local Macomb County medical center following an early morning fire. The fire caused a substantial amount of damage to the building, thankfully no one was injured as the fire occurred in the early morning hours. First responders were dispatched by the local fire department to secure the structure and assist with cleaning up the debris caused by the fire. A local Detroit area television station was on scene to film the fire and portions of the video (shown below) capture team members from Jarvis hard at work to securing the building.

Wild weather could create havoc during peak travel week

Thanksgiving week is one of the busiest travel weeks of the year as travelers hit the roads and airports around the country. There are numerous weather systems that could impact travel conditions this week ranging from snow storms in Minnesota to heavy rain along the east coast. The shift towards colder weather conditions has been gradually occurring with snow storms already impacting areas from the Dakota’s to New England.

The shift towards cold weather brings up many challenges for travelers and homeowners. Severe swings between freezing and non freezing temperatures can place additional strain on many aspects within your property. Snowfall and ice can quickly attack weak points in your roof structure, which can lead towards ice damns and potential structural or water damages. Your homes exterior is your first line of defense in protecting your valuable possessions, but even perfectly maintained properties can be impacted from the cold weather and the strain it can place on your plumbing and HVAC systems. Routine inspections and proper maintenance will go a long way towards ensuring you will have a safe winter free of unexpected property disasters.

During peak travel times and uncertain weather, planning ahead is a necessary step to avoiding travel delays. Monitoring the weather will help you plan trips to and from the airport as well as longer road trips. AAA insurance and travel service recommends all holiday travelers pack an emergency safety kit in their cars, including: (safety flares, jumper cables, flashlight, cell phone charger, matches and first aid kits). Plan ahead and have a safe holiday this year!

IICRC awards several Jarvis employees with new certifications

Employees from the restoration team at Jarvis Property Restoration were hard at work in the classroom in October working towards further education in the property restoration industry. Continuing education classes allow first responders from Jarvis to quickly assess and deploy the proper containment, cleaning and repairs to property disasters. Jarvis team members participated in classes such as: commercial drying specialist, water damage technician, fire & smoke damage restoration technician. Upon completion of the classes the students were required to complete extensive testing from the IICRC in order achieve industry certification from the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration. Pictured below is Shaun Quinn, production manager for Jarvis Property Restoration who was awarded the Fire & Smoke Damage Restoration Technician Certification.
